Charlotte is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive campus environment as a foundation for your success! We recognize that a legal name or assigned sex isn't always a good fit for everyone, and that there are many reasons one might use a name, gender identity, or pronouns that is different from their legal name or assigned sex. 

Personal Pronouns

Students, faculty, and staff have the ability to add or update their personal pronouns in Banner Self-Service. The Diversity and Inclusion Office provides a great personal pronoun frequently asked questions resource. To enter or update your personal pronouns, log in to MyCharlotte > My Tasks/Announcements >Personal Information > Personal Information.

Gender Identity

Students, faculty, and staff have the ability to add or update their gender identity within Banner Self-Service. Currently, no specific uses have been identified for sharing this information with the campus community.  To enter or update your gender, log in to MyCharlotte > My Tasks/Announcements >Personal Information > Personal Information.

  • Please check back often as this will be updated as new systems are added/updated.
  • If after future usage of gender identification is disclosed and you no longer wish to share, you can also remove your gender identification.

  • Under My Tasks / Announcements, select Personal Information

  • You will then be redirected to your profile where you are free to review, add, or update your personal information.

You can return to MyCharlotte at any time to update your pronouns and/or gender identity.  This includes deleting or changing your original selections. 
No. While we encourage those who are comfortable to share their pronouns, we recognize that not everyone may be comfortable with doing so. This could be for an array of reasons including not feeling safe to do so, exploring pronouns for themselves, or fear of being outed by peers, faculty, or staff.
Your information is used or planned for use in several ways.  For a complete list of these systems, communications, both current and planned, please visit the Know Me Project. There are no planned displays of gender identity at this time.
