FAQs - Optimized Room Scheduling

  • Where will my class be held? If a general classroom is needed, the optimization process will determine the classroom assignment based on several variables. Most importantly, the max enrollment, time/date, and proximity to your department will be considered. Other variables may also be used. The department can continue assigning other specialized spaces, such as conference rooms or labs, prior to submitting your schedule.

  • How can I find the location of the building my class is scheduled in? You may find the building’s location on the campus map. Classes are primarily held in academic buildings. Academic buildings are numbered in red on the campus map. Additionally, Institutional Research has provided estimated walk times between buildings. You can find this tool here. (NinerNet credentials required)

  • Do I have access to 25Live? Yes! You may log into 25Live, the university’s room scheduling software, using your NinerNet credentials. You may use 25Live to check room availability by clicking Availability in the ‘More’ drop down menu and select the calendar dates. Classes, meetings, and other scheduled events will be designated in green. Room capacities and features are also available in 25Live.

  • How can I request schedule updates? Updates to the schedule may be requested via the department schedule builder. If you are not sure or do not know who your department’s schedule builder is, please check with the department Chair or contact Academic Scheduling and you will be directed to the correct scheduler for your area. Summer Term updates must be submitted via the Summer Term Change Form, and Distance Education/Online Programs must be submitted to Distance Education.

  • Who should I contact if I need pedagogical room accommodations? Pedagogical room accommodations may be requested via the department schedule builder. They will enter this information into Banner for you during schedule building. If you are not sure or do not know who your department’s schedule builder is, please contact the department Chair or Academic Scheduling and you will be directed to the correct scheduler for your area.

  • Who should I contact if I have a specific room request for a medical impairment or to meet my ADA needs? If temporary accommodations are needed, the faculty member must make this request through their Department Chair. If approved by the Department Chair, the accommodation will be granted for a specific term. The Department Chair will email your need to Academic Scheduling. If the request is for multiple terms, the faculty member must discuss with Human Resources to complete the ADA accommodations request process.

  • If the seating capacity of a classroom should be reevaluated, who should I contact? Please contact Classroom Support with questions about seating capacities.

  • Where can I find information about a course in the catalog? You can view a list of undergraduate and graduate course descriptions in the University Catalog

  • Who do I contact if I need a room scheduled in the Dubois Center/Uptown Campus? Optimized room scheduling does not include the Dubois Center, only the main campus. To schedule a class at the Dubois Center/Uptown Campus, please send requests by email to the Dubois Center Operations Team. Please include the Course Reference Number (CRN) with your request.

  • Who do I contact to request a computer lab space? You may contact the department or college that controls the lab space directly.

  • If Department A has a required course for its major that is taught by Department B, is there a way to coordinate scheduling so that Department B can schedule the course without conflicting with the required courses offered by Department A? Departments should work out course conflicts interdepartmentally. Once this is resolved, the room can be assigned.
